Schlosser,Eric. Fast Food Nation.New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 2001.
I chose the book, Fast Food Nation because it was cited as a source in one of my other source reports, Wikipedia. I thought it would be an interesting book to check out and so I did. I think this is going to be a great tool to use when writing this paper. The author of the book, Eric Schlosser is a reporter and he dedicates this book entirely to all aspects of Fast Food. At this point I have not sat down and read the book in its entirety but I honestly think that I will. After reading the short description on the inside cover, skimming through all of the chapters headlines and reading the first few pages I find this to be a very intriguing book.
Eric chooses to actually go out and observe his community, fast food, and I think that is what is going to make this source rich with information. According to what I have read about this book, Eric attacks and researches everything that is related to the fast food industries. He observes the fast food settings and how they operate, travels to conventions that involve the franchising methods and procedures of fast food chains and even travels to other countries who are beginning to boom with popular fast food restaurants that America has had for years . Eric also addresses one of the issues that I am addressing in my research of this community - the correlation between the increasing obesity rate in the US with the booming number of fast food places popping up everywhere (3).
Not only does this book involve the research and conclusions that Eric has drawn but it also includes other information and statistics that he has gathered from outside sources. According to the introduction in this book, " Americans now spend more money on fast food than on higher education, personal computers, computer software, or new cars." That is unbelievable to me!!
This source's purpose is to educate and inform readers. It targets an educated group of people who desire to know more about the immediate and lasting effects that fast food has on our society.

I was wondering if you might use this source from what you mentioned before...I think it's a great idea! You are so right that he was observing his community too, and I'm sure he has a ton of relevant information and statistics, as well as possible other sources you might look at, packed into his book.
